The full from of NEFT is National Electronic Fund Transfer

Unlike real-time gross settlement (RTGS), fund transfers through the NEFT system do not occur in real-time basis. NEFT settles fund transfers in half-hourly batches with 23 settlements occurring between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm on week days and the first, third and fifth Saturday of the calendar month.
